"...THE FOOTLIGHTS THEATRE IS A SAFE AND HEALTHY VENUE!"
We have been Maine State Approved for Covid-19 Prevention since July, 2020.
We have met and surpassed all restrictions, guidelines and protocol.
The Footlights Theatre has announced its mask policy: "MASKS OPTIONAL". And yes, We will continue to do all the other pandemic protocol (including a professional covid cleaning after every show) to make your theater experience a safe, healthy, and happy one.

We ask that all patrons be vaccinated 2X's to attend any event at The Footlights Theatre. A booster shot is highly encouraged as well. Our HEPA air purifier / sanitizer systems with medical grade filtration for the theater, will continue to be “on” throughout the performance. The entire theater continues to be professionally disinfected, sanitized, and cleaned by a cleaning service. All theater seats, bathrooms, lobby, on stage and backstage areas are disinfected, sanitized and cleaned after every performance. Hand sanitizer is available and encouraged throughout the theater. We will take temperatures with a non-contact thermometer if needed. Bathrooms have flushable toilet seat covers and are stocked with disinfecting wipes, spray, and hand sanitizer

Our actors, tech people, and house manager/box office person are fully vaccinated with a booster shot.

We closed the Footlights Theatre on March 13th, 2020, halfway through the run of a sold-out show, and with a major musical in rehearsals. It has been extremely stressful ever since. We survive primarily on box office receipts, so with no show, there was no box office which meant no income.  Thankfully, we reopened July 17th, 2020 after going above and beyond all required (and expensive) restrictions, guidelines and protocol. It brought in some very much needed cash flow- but it's been our patrons and donors that have been extremely generous in helping us keep the theater venue open with their contributions. Without them, we would have had to close permanently. The Footlights Theatre, now celebrating its 11th season, has stressfully survived- sometimes we sell out, sometimes we play to less than 20 people. But we have kept the theater from closing. There is no extra money, but the doors did not and will not close- we will not be a covid casualty.

As we continue to make safe and healthy choices, there is now a light at the proverbial end of the tunnel- normalcy (whatever that is) has resumed as best as it can. BUT, until it's completely over... Stay safe… stay healthy... and please, come back to the theater and enjoy a show- we have done and will continue do everything possible to make it a safe and healthy experience... we welcome you back to the theater and look forward to seeing you again.
